Manhattan, NY (January 28, 2026) – Three people were injured on Wednesday following a fire that broke out inside a building under construction in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan.
The incident occurred at 4 Patchin Place on January 28. According to emergency responders, the fire ignited within the structure during the day, prompting a significant response from FDNY units. Thick smoke was reported in the area as crews worked to control the blaze and search the site for anyone injured or trapped.
Officials confirmed that three individuals sustained injuries related to the fire. The extent of their injuries has not yet been disclosed, but all victims were evaluated and received care from medical personnel on the scene. It remains unclear if any of the injured were workers at the site.
Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control, and no further extension to nearby buildings was reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the fire marshals.
