Buckeye, AZ (February 20, 2026) – At least one person was killed on Friday morning in a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a semi truck on I-10 near Palo Verde Rd in the Buckeye area. The collision led to a major closure along the eastbound lanes of the interstate.
According to investigators, a passenger vehicle crossed all lanes of traffic before striking a semi truck. The impact caused the semi to overturn across the freeway. The semi truck displayed the Amazon logo on its side.
Emergency units responded to the scene following reports of the crash. Officials confirmed at least one fatality but have not yet released the identity of the person who died or whether others were injured.
As a result of the crash, the eastbound lanes of I-10 at milepost 108 were closed. Westbound lanes remained open and were not affected by the incident.
No additional details about what led to the vehicle crossing lanes have been released. The incident remains under review by authorities. We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
Why Cross-Median or Multi-Lane Crashes on Interstates Are Often Severe
Interstate highways like I-10 carry high-speed traffic in multiple lanes. When a vehicle crosses several lanes unexpectedly, the risk of a high-impact collision increases sharply. Drivers traveling at highway speeds may have little time to react.
Crashes involving semi-trucks can cause widespread disruption due to the size and weight of commercial vehicles. When a semi overturns, it may block multiple lanes and require heavy equipment to remove it safely.
Multi-lane incidents can also increase the chance of secondary crashes if approaching drivers encounter stopped traffic. Road closures are often necessary to allow for cleanup, vehicle recovery, and a detailed review of how the crash occurred.
