Burlington Twp, MI (January 29, 2026) – A deadly collision early on Wednesday morning on M-60 in Calhoun County tragically claimed the life of a Union City man, according to Michigan State Police.
The incident occurred when a Jeep traveling eastbound on M-60 near 9 Mile Rd lost control for unknown reasons. Authorities report that the vehicle veered across the centerline and collided head-on with a semi truck heading westbound. The force of the impact caused catastrophic damage to the Jeep.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash was reported. Sadly, the 49-year-old man driving the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. The driver of the semi truck was not injured.
Troopers remained on-site for several hours, redirecting traffic and beginning a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash. It remains unclear whether weather, speed, or mechanical issues may have contributed to the loss of control.
