Canton, OH (April 21, 2026) – Three people were injured after a crash involving multiple vehicles, which sent one car into a pond along Market Ave N.

The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, in the 4000 block of Market Ave N. Emergency units responded after reports that a vehicle had struck a utility pole, overturned, and left the roadway before coming to rest in a nearby pond.

According to an update released Monday, a Mazda CX-30 was traveling west on 39th St NE when it collided with two Chrysler 300 vehicles heading north on Market Ave N. One of the Chrysler cars ended up in the water following the impact.

Three males inside the vehicle were ejected during the crash. They were found along the shoreline, where emergency units provided aid before they were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash also caused a power outage in the surrounding area. Cleanup crews worked for several hours, and Market Ave N remained closed for about six hours. Barriers were placed in the water to contain any leaking fluids before the vehicle was removed.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as they become available. We are thinking of those injured as they receive medical care.

What Happens When a Vehicle Leaves the Roadway and Enters Water?

When a vehicle goes off the road and enters a body of water, several safety and environmental concerns arise. The first priority is locating and assisting anyone inside the vehicle. In many cases, people may be thrown from the vehicle or attempt to exit on their own if possible.

Emergency crews often secure the area and assess the water conditions before recovery begins. Special equipment may be used to stabilize or remove the vehicle safely. At the same time, efforts are made to limit environmental impact, especially if fluids like fuel or oil have leaked into the water.

Road closures are common in these situations, as crews need space to work and ensure public safety. Cleanup and recovery can take several hours depending on the severity of the crash and the location of the vehicle.
