Bethlehem, PA (April 21, 2026) – A 58-year-old woman was injured after a crash caused her SUV to roll over at a busy Bethlehem intersection on Saturday afternoon, April 18. The incident happened just after 3:40 p.m. at the crossing of Spring St and Conestoga St.
Police said a Mazda 3 was traveling south on Conestoga St when it ran a stop sign at Spring St. The vehicle then struck a Honda CR-V heading east through the intersection. The force of the crash caused the Honda to tip onto its side, trapping the driver inside.
Emergency units arrived and worked to free the woman from the SUV. She was later taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Mazda received a citation, and both vehicles were removed from the scene.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
We are thinking of those injured as they receive medical care.
How Rollover Crashes Often Happen at Intersections
Rollover crashes can occur when a vehicle is struck from the side with enough force to shift its balance. This type of accident is more common in SUVs due to their higher center of gravity. Even at moderate speeds, a side-impact collision can cause a vehicle to tip or roll.
Intersections are a frequent location for these crashes, especially when traffic controls like stop signs are ignored. A driver failing to yield can create a sudden impact angle that increases the risk of a rollover.
Road conditions, vehicle speed, and the point of impact all affect how a crash unfolds. Safety features such as seat belts and airbags can help reduce injury, but being trapped inside a vehicle may still require rescue efforts.
