Cape Coral, FL (January 11, 2026) – A serious head-on collision in Cape Coral on Saturday evening left two people injured, including a 17-year-old boy who sustained life-threatening injuries. The crash occurred at the intersection of Pine Island Rd and Nicholas Pkwy W and prompted a major emergency response from Cape Coral Fire and Lee County EMS crews.
The incident was reported at approximately 6:11 p.m. on January 10. According to emergency radio communications, one of the victims, a teenage boy, met the criteria for a “Trauma Alert” due to the severity of his injuries. He was rushed to Gulf Coast Medical Center, where his condition has been described as critical. A second individual suffered minor injuries and was transported to Cape Coral Hospital for evaluation.
All lanes of Pine Island Rd and the southbound lanes of Nicholas Pkwy W were shut down as emergency responders worked at the scene. The closure caused significant traffic disruption in the area, which remained under active investigation for several hours.
Cape Coral Police confirmed that their Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit is leading the investigation. Officials have not yet released details regarding the circumstances of the crash or whether any contributing factors, such as speed or impairment, played a role.
