Visibility-Related Crashes in Rural Michigan
Head-on collisions caused by centerline crossings, like the one on Detroit Rd in Cass County, are frequently tied to poor visibility, driver fatigue, or inclement weather. Rural roads, often narrow and less illuminated, can become especially dangerous after dark or during adverse conditions.
When drivers are unable to see clearly, even slight deviations from the lane can result in serious collisions. Emergency response and quick medical transport are critical to minimizing injury severity.
Drivers are reminded to reduce speed in low-visibility conditions, use headlights appropriately, and stay focused on lane position. These simple precautions can prevent tragic outcomes on rural Michigan roads.
