How E-Bike Use at Intersections Can Increase Crash Risk
Electric bikes can travel faster than traditional bicycles, which may affect how riders approach intersections. When riders enter crossings from trails or side paths, drivers may not always expect them to appear suddenly.
Visibility plays a key role in these situations. Riders coming from off-road paths may be harder for drivers to see, especially if there are obstacles or limited sightlines near the intersection.
Protective gear, such as helmets, can help reduce the severity of injuries in a crash. Following traffic signals and slowing down before entering intersections can also improve safety for both riders and drivers.
