The police and fire crews were called around 1:50 p.m. to the area near 994 Bedford Street after 911 callers reported a two-vehicle crash. Officers found a sedan and a minivan with severe front-end damage.
A preliminary investigation indicated the sedan crossed the center line and struck the minivan. The sedan driver, described as a young adult man, was taken to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries.
The minivan driver, an elderly woman, and an elderly male passenger were also seriously hurt. Both were brought to Boston Medical Center in Brockton. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
We hope all three people injured receive the care needed and recover fully.
Center-Line Crashes Usually Lead to Severe Injuries
Center-line crashes are dangerous because vehicles traveling in opposite directions may collide with great force. When the front ends of both vehicles take the impact, drivers and passengers face a higher risk of serious trauma.
Two-vehicle crashes involving older adults may require close medical evaluation. Injuries to the head, chest, spine, or legs may not be fully clear until doctors complete testing and observation.
After a serious head-on accident, investigators frequently review lane position, roadway markings, speed, driver statements, vehicle damage, and nearby evidence. These details help determine why the vehicles came together and how the collision unfolded.
