Nashua, NH (July 3, 2026) – One driver died on Wednesday afternoon, July 1, after a three-vehicle chain-reaction collision on the Everett Turnpike in Nashua.
The New Hampshire State Police said the crash happened just after 4:30 p.m. on Route 3, also known as the Everett Turnpike, near mile marker 7. The crash involved three vehicles traveling northbound.
Investigators said 69-year-old Theresa Douville of Hooksett crashed into the rear of a vehicle driven by 35-year-old Gyna Santana of Lawrence, Massachusetts. That initial collision caused a chain-reaction rear-end crash involving a third vehicle driven by 30-year-old Madison Berube of Hooksett.
Douville suffered serious injuries. Life-saving measures were attempted, but she was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Santana, Berube, and several child passengers were taken to the hospital as a precaution. Three northbound lanes were shut down for about an hour after the collision. The Nashua crash remains under investigation.
Our condolences go to Douville’s family and loved ones, and we hope everyone evaluated after the crash is okay.
Chain-Reaction Wrecks Can Shut Down Busy Highways
Chain-reaction crashes can happen quickly when one collision pushes vehicles into others nearby. On busy highways, drivers may have little time to react once traffic slows or stops ahead.
Rear-end crashes involving several vehicles may cause a range of injuries. Some people may need hospital evaluation for neck pain, head trauma, back injuries, or other symptoms that appear after the initial shock.
Lane closures after a multi-vehicle crash help protect drivers, passengers, and emergency units while the roadway is reviewed. Investigators usually examine traffic flow, vehicle spacing, speed, braking, damage patterns, and where each vehicle came to rest.
