Buena Park, CA (August 2, 2026) – A chain-reaction crash involving multiple pickup trucks and a semi-truck caused traffic disruptions on Friday, July 31, on Interstate 5 south near Beach Boulevard in Buena Park. Crews responded to the scene around 4:40 a.m.

According to preliminary details, five vehicles were involved in the crash, including four pickup trucks and a semi-truck. Several vehicles were left blocking the roadway, forcing a temporary closure of all southbound lanes on Interstate 5. Crews worked to clear the damaged vehicles, with tow trucks called to the scene. The roadway was fully reopened around 5:04 a.m., and no injury information was available.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash, and additional information may be released as it becomes available.

We hope anyone affected by the collision remains safe and recovers quickly.

What Is Reviewed After a Multi-Vehicle Interstate Crash?

Crashes involving multiple vehicles on an interstate may require investigators to examine the sequence of impacts, vehicle positions, and roadway evidence. Damage patterns, skid marks, and debris can help determine how each vehicle became involved. Traffic conditions and visibility at the time of the crash may also be considered during the review.

When a commercial truck is part of the collision, investigators may evaluate additional evidence related to the truck and its movement before the impact. Witness statements, available video footage, and physical evidence collected from the roadway can provide valuable information. These findings help create a clearer timeline of the incident and the factors that contributed to it.
