How Head-On and Cross-Lane Crashes Can Become Fatal
Crashes where a vehicle crosses into oncoming traffic are often severe due to the force of impact. Even a brief loss of control or lane departure can lead to a head-on collision with little time for other drivers to react.
Highway speeds increase the danger, as the combined force of two vehicles moving toward each other can result in serious or fatal injuries. Secondary impacts, such as sideswipes before the main collision, can further complicate the situation.
Emergency response is critical in these cases to provide immediate care and secure the roadway. Road closures are often necessary to allow investigators to examine the scene and ensure the area is safe for other drivers.
