Chicago, IL (January 9, 2026) – A serious auto accident occurred Thursday afternoon near the intersection of E 87th St and S Essex Ave on Chicago’s South Side, leaving multiple people injured and prompting a large-scale emergency response.
The crash was reported shortly after 1:15 p.m. on January 8, following numerous 911 calls from nearby residents and passing motorists. Emergency units from the Chicago Fire Department arrived on scene and began evaluating and treating several individuals injured in the collision.
