Frequently Asked Questions
Is "buzzed" driving actually risky?
Yes. Even blood alcohol levels below the legal limit slow reaction time and affect judgment, raising the chance of a crash.
What's the best way to avoid driving after drinking?
Line up a sober driver, rideshare, or taxi before you start drinking, or plan to stay where you are until you're sober.
What should I do if I think a nearby driver is impaired?
Keep a safe distance, avoid passing or engaging with the vehicle, and call 911 with a location and description so officers can respond.
Why do crashes involving an impaired driver tend to cause more serious injuries?
Impairment slows a driver's reaction time, so they usually brake late or not at all, which means the vehicle hits with less control and at a higher speed than it otherwise would.
