GARDNERVILLE RANCHOS, Douglas County, Nev., Nov. 6, 2026 — One person was hospitalized after a two-vehicle rollover crash on Thursday evening, November 5, on U.S. 395 near Gardnerville Ranchos. One of the vehicles was carrying beehives that scattered across the area.
The crash happened on U.S. 395 at Palomino Lane just before 7 p.m. One of the two vehicles involved rolled over, and troopers said a driver failed to yield the right of way.
One person was taken to a hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. It was not released which driver was hurt or whether anyone else was in either vehicle.
The crash scattered beehives from one of the vehicles into the surrounding area. Lanes on U.S. 395 were reduced afterward, and the Nevada Highway Patrol urged drivers to use caution near the scene because of both the crash and the loose bees. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and take alternate routes if possible. The crash remains under investigation.
We hope those who were hurt recover fully and quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions
What usually causes two-vehicle crashes like this one?
Failure to yield the right of way at an intersection or turn is a common factor, along with distracted driving, speeding, and misjudging oncoming traffic.
Why is failing to yield the right of way so dangerous?
It removes the reaction time other drivers count on. A vehicle entering a roadway or turning without yielding can leave an oncoming driver with no room to brake or steer clear, usually resulting in a broadside hit or a rollover.
How does speed affect the severity of a crash like this?
Higher speed increases the force of impact and the distance a vehicle travels before a driver can respond, which raises the chance of a rollover and more serious injury.
What should drivers do if they come across a crash scene with road hazards like scattered debris or livestock?
Slow down well before the scene, follow any posted detours or officer direction, and avoid stopping unless directed, since sudden stops near a crash can cause additional collisions.
