Fentress County, TN (July 18, 2026) – A 7-year-old child was killed, and several other children were seriously injured in a crash involving a sport utility vehicle and an all-terrain vehicle on Banner Springs Road in Fentress County.
The police arrived at the scene after receiving reports of the collision around 8:40 p.m. on Thursday, July 16. According to a preliminary report, a 1972 Chevrolet Blazer was traveling south when it struck the rear of a Suzuki ATV that reportedly did not have headlamps or taillamps illuminated. The Chevrolet came to rest near the intersection of Banner Springs Road and George Young Road.
Four children were on the ATV at the time of the crash. Authorities said one child, later identified by family members as 7-year-old Nicolas, died from injuries suffered in the collision, while the other kids sustained serious injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured. The identity of the ATV operator has not been released.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as they become available.
