Why Median-Crossover Crashes Are Severe
Median-crossover accidents can result in serious outcomes because they frequently involve vehicles traveling in opposite directions. The combined force of both vehicles can significantly increase the risk of severe injuries or fatalities.
Investigators usually review roadway evidence, vehicle damage, weather conditions, and witness statements to better understand how these crashes occur. Road design, driver actions, and traffic conditions may also be considered. Drivers can help reduce risks by remaining attentive, maintaining control of their vehicles, and avoiding behaviors that could cause them to leave their travel lane.
