Why Can Three-Vehicle Crashes Cause Multiple Injuries?
A three-vehicle wreck can expose occupants to force from several directions. One vehicle may be struck from behind and then pushed into another, creating rapid movement inside each passenger compartment.
Children can face different injury risks because their bodies are smaller and still developing. Age-appropriate car seats, booster seats, and seat belts are designed to spread force across stronger parts of the body. Airbags provide added protection but must work together with the correct restraint system.
Travel speed, contact angle, seating position, and vehicle size can influence the harm reported. Medical teams may check for head, neck, chest, and abdominal trauma, even when symptoms initially appear mild. Some soreness, dizziness, or swelling can develop later, making continued observation useful after a multi-vehicle roadway emergency.
