Claiborne County, TN (May 2, 2026) – Two people were injured Friday afternoon following a crash at an intersection in Claiborne County, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Authorities say the collision occurred around 3:25 p.m. near the intersection of State Route 33 and Carr Ridge Road. Preliminary reports indicate that a Honda XSX utility vehicle, driven by 44-year-old John Dale Sweet II, was traveling east on Carr Ridge Road when it failed to yield the right of way to a southbound Chevy Spark on State Route 33.
The resulting crash left both drivers injured. Sweet II was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center due to the severity of his injuries, while the 29-year-old driver of the Chevy Spark was transported by ground ambulance to the same hospital.
The crash remains under investigation by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
