Clark County, WI (April 16, 2026) – Two children were seriously injured after being struck by a pickup truck Thursday morning in Clark County.
According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. on CTH N near Fernwal Ave. in the Town of Worden.
Authorities say a pickup truck traveling eastbound approached two children riding bicycles in the same direction on their way to school. The driver reported that sunlight impaired visibility, and the truck struck the bicycles, sending the children into a nearby ditch.
Bystanders quickly stopped to assist and provided first aid until emergency crews arrived.
Both children, a 7-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl, were treated at the scene before being airlifted by helicopter to Marshfield Hospital with serious injuries. Officials confirmed they remain hospitalized.
The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
The incident remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time.
We are thinking of the injured children and wish them a full recovery.
What Makes Bicycle-Involved Crashes Especially Dangerous for Children
Children on bicycles are particularly vulnerable in collisions with motor vehicles.
Limited visibility, especially due to sun glare, can increase the risk of these incidents.
Protective awareness from both drivers and cyclists is critical to reducing the likelihood and severity of injuries.
