Colonie, NY (January 15, 2026) – A tragic pedestrian-involved crash in Colonie on Wednesday evening claimed the life of one individual, according to the Colonie Police Department. The collision occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Central Ave between Osborne Rd and Kraft Ave, prompting an extensive emergency response and temporary road closure.
Crews arrived swiftly at the scene and located the pedestrian with critical injuries. Emergency medical services transported the individual to Albany Medical Center, where, despite efforts by trauma teams, the victim later succumbed to their injuries. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity, pending notification of family.
The driver involved remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with investigators. Central Ave, a heavily traveled corridor through Colonie, was shut down for approximately three hours while police conducted on-site analysis and documented the scene.
The roadway reopened around 8:30 p.m., but the investigation remains active as law enforcement officials continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
