Columbia, SC (January 18, 2026) – A serious vehicle crash near Shop Rd left one person injured Friday afternoon after reportedly being ejected from the vehicle during the collision.
The incident occurred around 1:52 p.m. on January 17. According to dispatch communications, the crash was classified as a priority response under code 1050 with injuries. Authorities stated that one female occupant fell out of the vehicle and sustained multiple lacerations. She was reported to be conscious and breathing, but was visibly covered in cuts.
Due to a high volume of emergency calls, the EMS response was delayed, though the injured individual was eventually transported to Prisma Health Richland Hospital for treatment. The extent of her injuries has not been disclosed.
Law enforcement was also managing a separate call in the area regarding found property near Lady Street, though the primary focus remained on the crash scene.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
