Compton, CA (January 20, 2026) – A multi-vehicle crash early Monday morning on westbound State Route 91 near Central Ave in Compton resulted in at least one fatality, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision was reported at approximately 12:37 a.m. and involved at least four vehicles. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after receiving reports of the wreck. Upon arrival, officials confirmed that at least one person had died as a result of the crash.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin. It remains unclear how the crash occurred or whether any other individuals were injured.
Traffic in the area was impacted during the early morning hours as CHP officers worked to investigate the scene and clear the involved vehicles. Authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances that led to the deadly incident.
