Johnston Co., NC (August 13, 2026) – Two people were seriously injured on Wednesday morning, August 12, after a fully loaded concrete truck overturned on westbound Interstate 40 near mile marker 306. The crash happened shortly after 9:45 a.m.
According to the initial report, the truck blew a tire while traveling west, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle overturned in the roadway, and concrete spilled across the interstate.
The 43-year-old driver from Fayetteville and a 65-year-old passenger from Fuquay-Varina were taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Interstate 40 westbound was temporarily shut down while crews cleared the spilled concrete and disabled truck. All lanes later reopened. The accident remains under investigation.
