Why Vehicle Rollovers Often Occur in Multi-Car Crashes
Rollover crashes can happen when vehicles collide at certain angles or speeds, especially at intersections or along rural highways. When a vehicle’s side is struck, the force can shift its center of gravity and cause it to tip or overturn. Larger vehicles such as SUVs and trucks may be more prone to rolling over due to their height.
Roadways like Hwy 905 often carry a mix of local and through traffic. Sudden lane changes, turning vehicles, or reduced reaction time can increase the chance of a multi-vehicle accident. When more than two vehicles are involved, the movement of one can quickly affect others nearby.
Seat belt use remains one of the most effective ways to reduce injury during a rollover. Drivers are also encouraged to reduce speed and remain alert at intersections and rural junctions where traffic patterns can shift quickly.
