Otoe County, NE (August 4, 2026) – A Cook man died following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 2 and County Road 36 east of Syracuse on Sunday, August 2.
According to the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. A preliminary investigation found that a Volkswagen Jetta was attempting to cross Highway 2 from County Road 36 when it failed to yield to a westbound Ford Fusion. The driver of the Volkswagen, Todd Dorn, 62, of Cook, was taken to Syracuse Area Health, where he died from his injuries.
The driver of the Ford, a 23-year-old woman from Lincoln, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
