Corpus Christi, TX (April 14, 2026) – Two people suffered critical injuries after a training aircraft crashed Monday evening, April 13, near Corpus Christi International Airport. The incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. along the Highway 44 Frontage Road.
Emergency units arrived to find a small plane down on the roadway and engulfed in flames. According to preliminary information, the aircraft had been carrying an instructor and a student during a training flight when it struck power lines while approaching the airport.
Both occupants were taken to a local hospital in critical condition before being transferred to a medical facility in San Antonio for further treatment. Officials confirmed the aircraft was a Piper PA-28, but the exact cause of the crash has not been determined.
