Cranston, RI (February 1, 2026) – A multi-vehicle collision involving a Cranston Police Department cruiser left several vehicles damaged and injuries reported Saturday afternoon on Cranston St, according to local authorities.
The crash occurred around 1:00 p.m. while a police cruiser was responding to a service call with its lights and sirens activated. As the cruiser proceeded along Cranston St, a vehicle exiting the Trolley Barn Plaza reportedly failed to yield to the emergency vehicle and collided with it. The impact forced the cruiser into the northbound lane, where it struck two additional vehicles.
In a chain reaction, one of those vehicles then struck a fourth car, increasing the total number of vehicles involved in the incident to four.
Emergency medical services responded to the scene to assess injuries, though the number of individuals hurt and the severity of their injuries have not yet been officially released. Multiple vehicles sustained damage, and traffic in the area was disrupted as crews worked to manage the aftermath.
