Rancho Cucamonga, CA (August 14, 2026) – A semi-truck and a white sedan were involved in a wreck with minor injuries on the westbound I-210 near the Archibald Avenue off-ramp on Thursday afternoon, August 13, according to dispatch logs. Four lanes were blocked at one point as crews worked.
Both vehicles were later moved to the right shoulder. A tow was requested for the sedan, a Kia with major right-side damage.
Details about the extent of the injuries were not immediately available. We hope everyone involved has a full recovery.
Why Do Semis Crashes Require More Lanes to Be Closed?
A semi-truck’s length and the space needed to safely maneuver it off the roadway often require more room than is needed to clear a standard passenger vehicle. Even when a semi hasn’t fully blocked every lane, nearby lanes are sometimes closed as a precaution while crews assess the trailer and cargo.
Investigators and tow crews also need enough space to inspect a semi’s trailer for stability before attempting to move it, since a damaged or unbalanced load can shift unexpectedly. This adds a layer of caution not usually needed with a smaller vehicle.
Once both vehicles are confirmed stable and moved to the shoulder, as happened here, crews can typically reopen the additional lanes fairly quickly. This staged process is part of why an initial four-lane closure doesn’t necessarily mean the roadway stays that restricted for long.
