Why Crashes Involving Large Trucks Can Lead to Severe Outcomes
Crashes involving tractor-trailers can result in serious damage due to the size and weight difference between large trucks and passenger vehicles. Even a single impact can cause significant force to smaller vehicles.
When a passenger car is struck by a truck, occupants are at higher risk of severe or fatal injuries. The height and mass of trucks can also affect how the collision occurs, sometimes leading to greater intrusion into the vehicle.
Road conditions, visibility, and timing at intersections or rural highways can all influence how these crashes happen. Drivers often need to remain alert and allow enough space when traveling near large trucks.
