Why Evidence Collection Is So Important in Bicycle Hit-and-Run Cases
Bicycle hit-and-run investigations usually rely on physical evidence and witness accounts to identify the vehicle involved. Investigators may examine damage to the bicycle, vehicle debris, paint transfer, and tire marks to help determine how the collision occurred. Surveillance cameras nearby can also provide valuable footage if they captured the vehicle before or after the roadway encounter.
Witness statements may help establish the direction the vehicle traveled or provide details about its appearance. If a possible vehicle is located, investigators may compare its damage with evidence collected from the roadway and the bicycle. These steps can help determine whether the vehicle was involved and provide a clearer picture of how the collision unfolded.
