Atlanta, GA (June 10, 2026) – A male cyclist died on Tuesday morning, June 9, after he was struck by a delivery truck on Campbellton Road SW in southwest Atlanta.

The accident happened shortly after 11:40 a.m. in the 3900 block of Campbellton Road SW. Emergency units arrived and found the cyclist lying in the roadway.

The man was not alert, conscious, or breathing after the collision. He was pronounced dead at the site.

His identity was not released in the initial report. The delivery truck driver remained at the scene after the wreck.

The fatal accident remains under review as more information is confirmed. We extend our sincere condolences to the cyclist’s family and loved ones.

Cyclists Face Severe Risk Around Large Delivery Vehicles

Cyclists have very little protection when they are involved in crashes with larger vehicles. A delivery truck’s size, weight, and height can make the force of contact especially serious.

Roadway layout may also affect cyclist safety. Travel lanes, driveways, turning traffic, parked vehicles, and sight lines can all shape how much space a rider has near moving traffic.

Delivery trucks may make frequent stops or turns, creating changing traffic patterns on busy roads. Early reports in bicycle crashes usually focus on where the rider was found, whether the driver stayed, and whether fatal injuries were confirmed. Later updates may provide more details about vehicle movement, lighting, lane position, and the moments before contact.
