What Typically Happens After a Two-Vehicle Crash Blocks All Lanes in California?
When a crash blocks all lanes of a roadway, one of the priorities is getting the vehicles moved to restore traffic flow as safely and quickly as possible. Drivers involved are sometimes asked to move their vehicles to the shoulder if it is safe to do so, and tow trucks are dispatched based on the type and size of the vehicles involved. Lane blockages on busy roads can create significant backups within minutes, especially during morning hours.
Even in crashes where injuries are initially described as unknown, emergency units typically assess everyone at the scene before making transport decisions. Some injuries, particularly those involving the neck, back, or head, may not present obvious symptoms right away. Medical professionals generally recommend that anyone involved in a collision get checked out, regardless of how they feel in the immediate aftermath.
California law requires drivers involved in a crash that causes injury or property damage to stop and exchange information with the other party. Failing to do so can result in criminal charges, separate from any traffic violations that may have contributed to the collision.
