Boulder County, CO (August 25, 2026) – An 85-year-old cyclist died on Monday morning after a Chevrolet Equinox struck him on Hwy 119 near 83rd St, southeast of Longmont.
The accident happened at about 7:58 a.m. The cyclist was traveling south on the right shoulder and attempted to turn left onto 83rd St, making three lane changes before reaching the far-left lane.
As he crossed in front of the southbound Chevrolet, the 2010 gray Equinox struck him. The car was driven by a 33-year-old Longmont woman who remained at the site and cooperated with investigators.
Emergency units performed CPR on the cyclist, but he was pronounced dead at 8:06 a.m. His identity is expected to be released by the Boulder County Coroner’s Office.
Southbound Hwy 119 was initially closed at Airport Rd, with one lane later reopening. The investigation into the fatal collision is continuing. Our heartfelt condolences go to the cyclist’s family and friends.
