CYPRESS, Harris County, Texas, Oct. 25, 2026 — A teenager died after a two-vehicle crash early on Saturday morning, October 24, on Tuckerton Road in Cypress, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
The crash happened shortly after midnight near the Fry Road intersection, close to Cypress Creek Bend Drive. A Lincoln Aviator and a Honda Accord were both traveling in the eastbound lanes of Tuckerton Road when the Honda began changing lanes, the sheriff's office said. The Lincoln reportedly struck the back right side of the Honda, pushing it off the road and into a tree.
The Lincoln then rolled over multiple times. A passenger was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover. That passenger, identified by authorities as Jarmelo Vertudez, was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Lincoln reportedly carried five teen passengers between 16 and 18 years old, and the Honda had two teen passengers as well, the sheriff's office said. The driver of the Lincoln was hospitalized and reportedly showed signs of intoxication. The Honda's driver stayed at the scene and did not appear to be impaired.
It remains unclear whether anyone else was hurt in the crash, and officials have not released the Lincoln driver's current condition. No charges have been announced in connection with the crash.
Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased.

What to Do After a Two-Vehicle Crash in Cypress, TX
Anyone involved in a two-vehicle crash should move to a safe spot if possible and call 911 right away. Even if injuries seem minor at first, it's worth getting checked by a medical provider, since some injuries, especially from a rollover or sudden impact, don't show symptoms immediately. Take photos of the vehicles and the scene if it's safe to do so, and get contact information from any witnesses nearby. Once law enforcement completes its report, request a copy for your records. For families dealing with a teen driver or passenger involved in a crash, local hospitals and counseling services in the Cypress area can offer support during a difficult time.
