Frequently Asked Questions

What can drivers do to watch for motorcycles?

Motorcycles are smaller and can be harder to judge in distance and speed than cars or trucks. Checking mirrors and blind spots twice before changing lanes, turning, or slowing down can help drivers spot a motorcycle before it's too late.

What should a rider do after a motorcycle crash?

Riders should move to a safe location if possible, call 911, and avoid removing protective gear unless necessary, since doing so can worsen some injuries. Getting checked by medical personnel at the scene is important even if injuries seem minor.

Are motorcycle accidents more common at intersections?

Many motorcycle crashes happen at or near intersections, where turning vehicles and following traffic have less time to react to a rider's position and speed.

How does road surface affect motorcycle safety?

Loose gravel, wet pavement, and uneven surfaces affect motorcycles more than other vehicles because they have less contact with the road. Riders should slow down and increase following distance in poor road conditions.

What to Do After a Motorcycle Crash in Dawsonville, GA

After a motorcycle crash, getting a medical evaluation as soon as possible matters, even for riders who feel fine at the scene. Some injuries, including internal injuries or head trauma, aren't obvious right away. Taking photos of the scene, noting weather and road conditions, and getting contact information from any witnesses can all help later on.
