Why Head-On Crashes Often Cause Severe Injuries
Head-on crashes are among the most dangerous types of collisions. When two vehicles hit from opposite directions, the force can be much greater than in other accidents. This can cause severe damage to both vehicles and serious harm to people inside.
Lane departure is often a key concern in head-on crashes. A vehicle may enter oncoming traffic because of driver error, roadway conditions, distraction, or another unknown factor. Curves, narrow shoulders, and passing areas can also affect how much time drivers have to react.
Injuries in these crashes might include head trauma, chest injuries, broken bones, and internal injuries. Emergency units may close roads for an extended time so injured people can receive care and damaged vehicles can be removed safely.
