What Can Make Two-Vehicle Crashes So Serious?

Two-vehicle crashes can result in severe injuries when vehicles traveling in opposite directions collide. The force involved can depend on vehicle speed, the angle of impact, and the size and weight of the vehicles.

Passengers and drivers may experience different levels of injury during the same crash. Seat belts can help keep occupants properly positioned, while airbags can provide additional protection during certain types of impacts.

Emergency medical care may include treatment at the scene followed by transportation to a hospital. Patients with serious injuries may be taken by air ambulance when specialized or faster medical care is needed. The type of transportation depends on the patient’s condition and available resources.
