Carbondale, IL (August 22, 2026) – Two people were taken to a hospital after three vehicles collided on the 1900 block of North Illinois Avenue, also known as U.S. Highway 51, in Carbondale on Thursday morning, August 20.
According to police, emergency crews responded shortly after 8 a.m. Both northbound and southbound lanes were blocked when crews arrived. Investigators said a southbound vehicle rear-ended a second vehicle, causing it to strike a third vehicle.
