St. Petersburg, FL (August 9, 2026) – A 47-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Friday morning, August 7, while walking in a marked crosswalk in St. Petersburg. The collision happened at about 2 a.m. near Dr Martin Luther King Jr Street South and 15th Avenue South.
The police said a dark-colored sedan was traveling south on Dr Martin Luther King Jr Street South when it struck the woman as she walked west across the street. The driver left the scene without stopping after the collision. The woman was taken to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital for treatment, but she later died from her injuries; her name had not been released. The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to identify the driver involved.
