What Should Drivers Know About Rollover Crashes?
Rollover crashes can occur when a vehicle leaves the roadway and strikes objects, uneven ground, or other obstacles. The vehicle’s speed, direction, and point of impact can affect how it moves after leaving the road.
Passengers face additional risks during a rollover, particularly if they are not properly restrained. Seat belts can help keep occupants inside the vehicle and reduce the chance of being thrown from the passenger compartment.
Leaving the scene of a collision can also complicate efforts to determine what happened. Information from witnesses, physical evidence, vehicle damage, and the crash location can help establish the sequence of events.
