Fremont, OH (August 30, 2026) – A Fremont man and woman were killed when a car and a three-wheeled motorcycle collided in Hopewell Township on Friday, August 28. The crash happened around 2:50 p.m. at SR-18 and County Road 26.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said a 29-year-old Tiffin woman was driving west on County Road 26 when she failed to yield at a stop sign. Her car then collided with a three-wheeled motorcycle operated by 74-year-old Ronald Kuyken of Fremont. Kuyken died at the scene.
His passenger, 65-year-old Susan Kuyken, also of Fremont, was taken to an area hospital, where she later died. The driver of the car suffered minor injuries but declined treatment at the scene. The intersection remained closed for about two hours before reopening.
The circumstances surrounding the collision are still being investigated. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Kuyken family and everyone mourning their loss.
