Fairfax, VA (September 8, 2026) – One person was killed on Sunday afternoon, September 6, in a multi-vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 66 in Fairfax County. The collision happened in the express lanes near the 64.2-mile marker.
The crash was reported around 4:10 p.m. Troopers responded to the scene as emergency crews worked in the area. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity had not been released as officials worked to notify the person’s next of kin.
Video from the scene showed a vehicle engulfed in flames with heavy smoke rising above the roadway. The circumstances leading to the crash have not been released. Authorities are working to determine what caused the collision.
