Tampa, FL (September 8, 2026) – The hit-and-run happened Saturday, September 5, around 11:15 p.m., and officers are searching for the driver who struck and killed a 20-year-old man before fleeing the scene in Hillsborough County on SR 574 near Bethlehem Road.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the victim, identified as a Guatemalan national, was walking in the westbound lane of SR 574 when an unknown vehicle struck him. The driver did not stop after the impact and immediately left the area.
First responders pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities have not released a description of the vehicle or identified its driver. This is a developing story. We send our deepest sympathies to the grieving family and friends.
