Greenfield Township, PA (September 13, 2026) – A 63-year-old Florida man was killed Friday afternoon, September 11, in a three-vehicle rear-end crash on Interstate 99 in Greenfield Township. The collision occurred in the northbound lanes near Exit 23 as traffic had slowed.
State police identified the victim as a man from New Port Richey, Florida. According to the preliminary report, a 21-year-old man driving a transit van failed to stop for slowed traffic and struck the man’s SUV from behind. The impact pushed the SUV into a pickup truck carrying two adult women and two young children.
No one inside the pickup was injured. The man and his passenger were taken to Conemaugh Nason Hospital with serious injuries. The man later died from his injuries. The transit van driver was evaluated for minor injuries but declined transportation to a hospital.
The van driver could face a citation for following too closely, depending on the outcome of the investigation. The investigation remains ongoing.
