Decatur, AL (January 27, 2026) – A tragic two-vehicle accident claimed the life of one woman and left two others injured Monday afternoon at the intersection of Alabama 24 and Woodall Rd SW in Decatur, according to local authorities.
The crash occurred around 2:38 p.m. and involved a car and a pickup truck. Emergency personnel from the Decatur Police Department, Decatur Fire, and Decatur Morgan EMS responded swiftly to the scene following a 911 call reporting the collision at the busy Morgan County intersection.
Police confirmed that a female passenger in the car sustained critical injuries and was transported to Decatur Morgan Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Her identity has not yet been released pending notification of family.
The car’s driver and two individuals from the pickup truck were also taken to the hospital. Their injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.
The intersection remained active for some time as investigators worked to document the scene and determine the circumstances that led to the collision. No information has yet been released regarding possible contributing factors.
