The five other occupants of the Impala suffered injuries described as ranging from minor to critical. All six people from the Impala were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
The Impala's driver is under arrest on a charge of Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death and is being treated at a hospital for injuries from the crash.
The crash remains under investigation. Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does seat belt use matter so much?
A seat belt keeps an occupant inside the vehicle and spreads crash force across the stronger parts of the body. Unbelted passengers are far more likely to be thrown from the vehicle, which raises the chance of fatal injury.
What should families do after a fatal crash?
Families typically start by contacting the investigating agency for the official report and any updates on charges. Many also reach out to the county medical examiner's office for information on next steps.
How are fatal crashes investigated?
Investigators typically examine the scene, vehicle damage, witness accounts and any available video or data recorders to reconstruct how the crash happened. Toxicology results and charging decisions can follow weeks or months later.
How long do fatal-crash investigations take?
Timelines vary widely. Straightforward cases may close within weeks, while ones involving toxicology results, reconstruction, or criminal charges can take several months.
