DEVORE, San Bernardino County, Calif., Oct. 26, 2026 — Two vehicles collided early on Monday morning, October 26, on Interstate 15 northbound near Kenwood Avenue in Devore, according to the California Highway Patrol. At least one person was reportedly trapped inside a vehicle, and airbags deployed in both cars.
The crash was first reported north of Glen Helen Parkway, where a light-colored sedan was found on the right shoulder with front-end damage and hazard lights on. A dark-colored sedan reportedly came to rest in the center divider. One caller indicated a man had gotten out of one of the vehicles and climbed over a barrier into the bypass lanes, though that account has not been independently confirmed.
Responders reported a person trapped in a black Toyota involved in the crash. Emergency crews were asked to expedite their response after both vehicles were reported blocking lanes and posing a traffic hazard. All northbound traffic was reportedly stopped for a time while crews worked the scene, with at least one vehicle still partially blocking a lane and another in the center divider.
Multiple tow trucks were requested to clear the vehicles, and recovery operations continued for more than an hour. By midmorning, units had moved to a secondary location near the Cleghorn Road off-ramp as cleanup wrapped up. The extent of injuries has not been released, and the CHP has not said what led to the collision. The crash remains under investigation.
We wish those injured a full recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
What injuries are most common in car accidents like this one?
Two-vehicle crashes at freeway speeds often cause neck and back injuries, broken bones, and head injuries, particularly when airbags deploy or a driver is trapped inside a vehicle.
What typically causes crashes like this on a freeway?
Common factors include following too closely, sudden lane changes, speed that's too fast for conditions, and distracted or impaired driving, though a specific cause has not been confirmed in this case.
Why does speed make a crash worse?
Higher speed means more force at impact and less time for drivers to react or stop, which tends to increase the severity of injuries and vehicle damage.
What to Do After a Car Accident in Devore, California
If you're involved in a crash on a freeway like I-15, try to move to a safe location, such as the shoulder, if your vehicle is drivable, turn on your hazard lights, and call 911 right away. Even if injuries seem minor, it's worth getting checked by a medical provider, since some injuries, like whiplash or internal bruising, aren't obvious right away. Take photos of the scene if it's safe to do so, exchange information with the other driver, and get the names of any responding officers. Keep a copy of the CHP incident report once it's available, and follow up with your insurer promptly.
