Frequently Asked Questions
Does driver fatigue play a role in truck crashes?
Yes. Fatigue slows reaction time and is a common factor in collisions involving commercial or pickup trucks, especially during early morning hours when alertness naturally dips.
What should I do after a crash involving a truck?
Move to a safe location if possible, call 911, and wait for law enforcement to document the scene. Seek a medical evaluation even if injuries seem minor, since some symptoms appear later.
Why do trucks need more distance to stop than cars?
Trucks carry more weight and often sit higher, which increases stopping distance and the risk of rollover or jackknifing when drivers brake hard or swerve.
What makes truck collisions more dangerous than typical car crashes?
The size and weight difference between a truck and a passenger vehicle means more force is transferred in a crash, which often leads to more serious injuries for occupants of the smaller vehicle.
What to Do After a Car Accident in Banning, California
If you're involved in a crash on a highway like this one, try to move your vehicle out of traffic lanes if it's safe to do so and turn on hazard lights. Check yourself and any passengers for injuries before stepping out, and stay alert to passing traffic while you wait for help. Exchange information with the other driver, note what you remember about how the crash happened, and get a copy of the official report once it's available. Even if you feel fine, a prompt medical check can catch injuries that aren't immediately obvious.
