How Head-On Crashes and Ejections Increase Injury Risk
Head-on crashes are among the most severe types of roadway accidents because of the combined force of vehicles moving in opposite directions. When a vehicle crosses into oncoming traffic, drivers often have little time to react.
Ejection from a vehicle greatly increases the risk of fatal injury. Seat belts are designed to keep occupants inside the vehicle, reducing the chance of being thrown out during a collision.
In high-impact crashes, staying secured inside the vehicle can reduce the severity of injuries. Proper seat belt use is one of the most effective ways to improve safety in these situations.
